How Do You Treat Sever’s Disease?
The goal of Sever’s disease treatment is to find relief from pain so that the child can enjoy the activities they participate in every day. With continued activity, left untreated, Sever’s disease can become severe and could require the child to wear a cast for anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks to immobilize the foot so that it can heal.
Sever’s Disease Treatment
Immediate Relief With Cushion and Support.
The bio-mechanically designed Tuli’s heel cup provides immediate relief by cushioning the area to the heel and elevating the calcaneus (heel bone) to take pressure off of the Achilles tendon, lessening the tension and allowing for a regaining of flexibility. These “true heel cups” cradle and cushion heels, transferring pressure off of painful heels and provide stability in order to promote the healing of ligaments the plantar fasciia.
Tuli’s patented multi-cell, multi-layer “waffle” design absorbs shock and returns impact energy just like the system naturally found in your feet. Upon impact, the waffle construction bears down and rotates with the normal motion of the foot to absorb the shock of walking and running. And just like a spring, Tuli’s returns that energy back for maximum performance.
Step 2: LONG-TERM HEALING
Long-term healing through deep stretching and strengthening.
Medi-Dyne’s ProStretch has been proven to provide a deep stretch that increases flexibility along the entire inter-connective chain, delivering the long-term flexibility needed for a lasting plantar fasciitis treatment.
Providing a safe, effective, easy-to-use method for performing targeted exercises that stretch and strengthen the hamstrings, calf, Achilles tendon, feet, toes; ProStretch is the go-to choice for plantar fasciitis treatment is the hallmark of ProStretch. That’s why ProStretch is the #1 Choice of professional athletes, physical therapists and athletic trainers for plantar fasciitis treatment — reducing pain and increasing flexibility.
The ProStretch Plus puts both the plantar fascia and the toes in a state of tension that allows for a maximized stretch. The unique rocker bottom allows you to progressively deepen your stretch in a continuous motion. Far superior to using a curb or wall, which requires you to stop, re-adjust your angle and lose the tension. Using the ProStretch on a regular basis is a great tool for both Sever’s Disease treatment and prevention.
For children with smaller feet, consider using the ProStretch Original.
Maintaining good flexibility throughout the inter-connective chain of the lower leg including the ankle, Achilles tendon and calf muscles) is the best way to prevent plantar fasciitis but it’s also part of a solid Sever’s Disease treatment plan.
The Gastrocnemius and Soleus (calf muscles) both work to lift the heel. Improper biomechanics often lead to foot, Achilles tendon or even injuries that move “up from the calf” including knee injuries and tight hamstrings. Proper stretching is imperative for plantar fasciitis treatment. Proper stretching and strengthening programs can correct functional risk factors, providing both immediate benefits and long-term healing.
